Julian de Metz
A third generation architect, Julian trained at Moshe Safdie Associates in Boston MA and ORMS Architects and Designers in London before joining his father John to design, construct, and develop buildings. On his fathers retirement, Julian formed de Metz Architects in 1998 and was joined by co directors Paul Forbes and Ben Knight in 2000 and 2001 respectively to form dMFK Architects Ltd.
Julian is currently working on a number of larger schemes in the office, including 140 residential units and co working space for Barratt London in the former National Institute for Medical Research in Mill Hill, a housing scheme in Maida Vale for London Buildings and several other office projects across a number of sectors including 2 new build synagogues.
At dMFK, Julian is a key director looking after new business, design ethos, communication and community consultation. He is an external examiner at both Westminster University, and Manchester School of Art.
Julian is passionate about music, food and a keen open water swimmer.
