The original canteen was enlarged and transformed into a high quality 24 hour restaurant with soft seating area and dining room. The goal was to provide a range of space which catered for all staff from security to directors.
The soft seating area is first glimpsed through a slot in a 4m long cork clad wall. The food servery is a multifunctional preparation area with surfaces clad in yellow laminate and galvanised steel and exposed original concrete. Here staff can serve themselves with food cooked on site or prepare their own meals.
Beyond this servery is the main restaurant. The cork-clad walls, vibrant red resin floor and bush-hammered concrete are reflected in two long panels of Barrisol which stretch the length of the room and conceal the services which were rationalised in the refurbishment.
